What caught my attention in week thirty-five, 2023
In continuation to weeks 32 - 34, here are a few thoughts and things that caught my attention in week 35, 2023:
π΄ This week I cycled 121 km and walked 58 km, including 19 km with the dog.
π¨ Nice idea: MakerSkillTree - A repository of Maker Skill Trees and templates to make your own. Will start with the 3D Printing and Modelling Skill Tree.
βοΈ 1Piece - Multifunctional App for Mac. 1Piece includes many features to improve the usability of your Mac. Window List that displays the list of all your open windows, a feature that switches the Space or the active window by using Hot Corner, a feature that resize and reposition the window and so on. Looks like an app you'll need some spare time to dive into.
π Menu Bar Calendar - A monthly calendar, one click away: It's the younger sibling of Dato and free.
β¨οΈ If you're looking for a text editor, Chime might be one to try: Capable. Focused. Fast. An open source editor for macOS.
πΌ qView - Practical and Minimal Image Viewer was updated as well: qView is a lightweight image viewer designed with minimalism and practicality in mind, available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
What caught my attention in weeks thirty-two to thirty-four, 2023
In continuation to week 31, here are a few thoughts and things that caught my attention in week 32 - 34, 2023:
π Just before our family vacation we were all sick (cold) or someone broke something, but somehow we managed to travel to the Baltic Sea. Actually, we are more of a bike-hiking family that is drawn towards the mountains, but this summer we had the opportunity to house-sit for friends, which we gladly accepted. Vacations with a dog have to settle in anyway, and biking vacations aren't possible with her for now. (So far we don't want to put our dog in a pension or similar.) The long journey was - as usual for the Deutsche Bahn - chaotic. Two of our previously booked connections were canceled in advance without replacement, we had to spontaneously reschedule on the way and change trains in Hamburg, which we actually wanted to avoid. There, of course, we unexpectedly ran into a CSD demo. Incredibly many people at the main station. There was no forward and no back - our dog was visibly shocked by the "interestingly" (for our dog) dressed people, but she mastered it brilliantly. The vacation was stormy and rainy at first, but very relaxing and we were able to recover well. After our return, my wife and I went straight to Cologne for a party...
What caught my attention in week thirty-one, 2023
In continuation to week 30, here are a few thoughts and things that caught my attention in week 31, 2023:
π€ I was on sick leave for almost the entire week and felt accordingly. Towards the end of the week, my wife also fell ill. As a result, we didn't experience much.
𧳠Nonetheless, we somehow managed to pack all the things for our summer vacation and take the kids and the dog to the Baltic Sea by train.
πΆββοΈ I cycled 15 km and walked only 42 km, including 25 km with the dog.
π‘ Lately, I've been getting annoyed too often with the software quality of Apple products. I am aware that the alternatives are not really better, or rather, they don't really exist. But I've decided to try not to buy new hardware products until I feel that the software catches up to the hardware again.
